Family Studio Session in Minneapolis at Juniper Loft with Family V

Ohh, how I love this session! (And not just it’s because it’s Amber and her sweet family.)

We shot at my new favorite studio—shout out Juniper Loft!—and embraced a warmer color palette this time around. The orange couch at the loft was a great compliment to their modern retro stylings, becoming a character itself in these photos.

The couch hosted some classic sitting, yes. But it also saw its share of running (on, from, and to), jumping, snacking, crying, hiding, playing, and laughing. It was the background to so much personality which is always the mark of a great session for me. It’s less about what happens in front of the camera, rather than how it happens. If it’s real, if it’s honest, I want to photograph it. Even if that means a toddler meltdown or two.
