Melanie + Taylor: Eureka Springs, AR Wedding

The days are getting longer, there’s a spray of red tulips blooming in my front yard, and soon we’ll be able to wear white jeans. (Memorial Day, hurry up!) To me, this beautiful trifecta symbolizes springtime, yes, but also: wedding season! With only a little over a month to go until my first one (woo-hoo, Amy and Matt!) I couldn’t resist posting a bit of wedding day goodness I’ve been keeping to myself from last August. No, I was not the official photographer at my sister’s wedding in Eureka Springs (fun fact: trailing only behind Vegas, more weddings are performed here every year than anywhere else in the US), but I did make sure that Melanie realized that when she asked me to be in her wedding, she knew my +1 would be my Mark II Canon and that we’d be pretty difficult to separate. ;)

Spying on Melanie and Taylor’s first look. :)

Your elegance and grace makes a little sister proud, Mel. :) I know it’s been months since you’ve wed, but I’m getting a little teary again at the reminder of how stunning you were.

Mother of the groom.

Fun fact: I was sprawled on the floor on my belly half the time during this interlude of photographs. Surprising amount of cat hair on that carpet. Bridesmaid dress be damned!

Melanie’s style has always been a lovely mix of timeless elegance with a  modern feel. A prime example: her bouquet. Our grandmother walked down the aisle with a cluster of calla lilies when she wed our grandfather 65 years ago. Following in her footsteps, an arrangement filled with yellow, red, and orangey hues was a perfect updated version while still paying homage to our dear Lu. :)

Father of the bride. (AKA Dad :) )

And this is the point in the show where I’m also going to take credit as make-up artist. :) You’re fabulous, doll!

Melanie is so obviously adored, I can’t help but smile at this photo every time.

Grace.

Tadaaa! It was actually pretty interesting being involved in a wedding for a change, setting aside photographic responsibilities. I do have more respect for the entire process, being privy to the backstage happenings first hand.

I know I’m months behind on my official bloggity blog well-wishing, but congratulations, Ladds.
I love you.
